Eugene Marlow’s Aspetta Ancora Qualque Minuti (Wait A Few More Minutes) is for two Bb clarinets and piano in two short movements. The composition, premiered as part of a New York Composers Circle concert of new works, was performed by Guido Arbonelli’s Trio Namaste at the National Opera Center, New York City.
Aspetta Ancora Qualque Minuti is an outgrowth of a piece Eugene Marlow originally wrote for a single Bb clarinet entitled “Wait A Minute!” The performance by Trio Namaste was therefore an opportunity to take this initial piece and develop it further.

“Aspetta Ancora Qualque Minuti” is an outgrowth of a piece Eugene Marlow originally wrote for a single Bb clarinet entitled “Wait A Minute!” The performance by Trio Namaste was therefore an opportunity to take this initial piece and develop it further.
The Trio Namaste instrumentation offered an array of musical possibilities and a chance to create some visual stagecraft, i.e., by having several melodic lines alternate between the two clarinetists. Incorporating the piano into the two short-movement composition also provided an opportunity to infuse percussive, off-beat moments into the piece.
