Frank Wagner

Over a period of several decades Frank Wagner has earned a deserved reputation as a solid bassist with a wide range of musical contexts and as an educator.

Wagner studied at the Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts), graduating in 1980. Over the next two years, he began a professional musical career while studying brass and percussion instruments at Hofstra University (Uniondale, New York).

Wagner has performed all over the world in a host of musical settings, including all-star jazz bands, Broadway shows, national tours, recording sessions, and classical orchestras. He has taught music throughout his career in a variety of capacities, including as a faculty member at the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City.

A graduate of NYU’s Music Therapy program, Wagner has been a practicing music therapist for the past 20+ years at Woodhull Hospital In-Patient Psychiatric & Chemical Dependency Department, in Brooklyn, NY. 

He is an adjunct professor at Queensborough Community College and a visiting professor at Pratt Institute, teaching composition jazz theory and music therapy.
