Bobby Sanabria
Bobby Sanabria — drummer, percussionist, composer, arranger, recording artist, producer, filmmaker, conductor, educator, historian, multi-cultural warrior and 9X-Grammy nominee — has performed with a virtual Who's Who in the world of jazz and Latin music, as well as with his own critically acclaimed ensembles—The Multiverse Big Band and El Quatro Ache.
His diverse recording and performing experience includes work with such legendary figures as Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Paquito D'Rivera, Mongo Santamaría, Ray Barretto, Celia Cruz, Candido Camero, Arturo Sandoval, Jon Faddis, Bob Mintzer, Yomo Toro, Chico O’Farrill & the Godfather of Afro-Cuban Jazz, Mario Bauzá.
Having recorded as both a drummer and/or percussionist with every major figure in the history of Latin jazz, as well as his encyclopedic knowledge of both jazz and Latin music history makes him unique in his field. A frequent guest speaker on Afro-Cuban and Latin-jazz at universities and on radio, Maestro Sanabria is an associate professor at the New School University Jazz and Contemporary Music. He is the host of “Latin Cruise” on WBGO Jazz 88.3
